Q: 2008 kia rio vs. 2004 nissan altima 2.5 SL?
what'd win on the 1/4 mile?

A: is that a serious question?! you're comparing a cheap low-end korean car with a mid-range japanese car? first of all neither cars are very good. 2nd the rio is a wimpy car, and even the altima could kick it's ass!!!

Q: Kia Rio help needed!!! Easy answer!!!!?
2008 Kia Rio I have a light on my dash that wont go off. Its an exclamation mark! as in ( ! ) !!! its not tire pressure or emergency break, that have different lights! Please post valid sources. Thanks

A: it means the car is really excited! check the owners manual.

Q: I have a rich gasoline smell coming from my car?
I only notice it when I first start my 2008 Kia Rio up for the day, after that I don't smell it. I've only had it for 5 months. I heard that it could do with the catalytic converter running rich in the cold weather but besides that what else might it be? things i could check out?

A: When the vehicle is first started cold it runs a evaportive system test which pressurizes the fuel tank then vents pressure to the engine induction system looking for leaks. It sounds as though there is a leak in the line that returns fuel vapor to the induction system as well as a manufacture defect that allows it to happen with out a check engine light.

Q: Overdrive in an automatic HELP PLEASE!!!?
Ok this is gonna be long so yeh sorry guys. Ok how's it goin. Im 19 female from adelaide australia and I just bought a brand new 2008 kia rio lx 5 door hatch... overdrive button is on the gear knob thing (the car is auto) and yeh. So I was driving around for a week and I decided to press the over drive button and a light came on saying this : O/D OFF Exactly as it looks. And im like what the hell, I thought the fucker already was off. I was under the impression that that button just gives you power at high speeds and so on and when you turn it on, its just like a highbeam switch, in saying that I mean that its off till you press the button and the thing comes on and the light comes on saying its on... So im thinking what the fuck? So I read my manual that comes with the car and it says exactly as I write it this: O/D over drive system Pressing the overdrive button cancells and engages the overdrive system. (Here's the bit that got me... : ) when the O/D OFF light is on the OD system is cancelled and gears are ranged 1 to 3 only and as such are limited. (Here's the next pile of rubbish I thought was gay too...) when the ignition switch is off OD Off mode is auto matically cancelled... So pretty much what it said was that it starts up ever time when you turn the car on in over drive... so wdf? I thought overdrive was a thing you do when you go fast to save fuel and have a choice of turning on, not having it on all the time? I have no fucking idea about any of this and I don't know whether having it on all the time is mean for that car or what it does or its purpose... please halp me out guys cause I have looked everywhere and I've managed two mixed opinions... Number one. Overdrive puts you in at higher revs by dropping gears so as to help you get up a hill Now the high revs things to get up a hill sounds ok but how the fuck does that work if OD is fourth gear and its goin into lower gear? Wdf? How does that save fuel with such high revs? Number two OD puts the car into a higher gear as to lower revs and thus savings fuel at high speeds... which fucking sounds like it makes sense to me. And they say if you turn OD off it lowers you into a smaller gear because 4th is no longer available and thus slows you down so you don't have to brake much which backs up this story. So my questions are: 1. Was I wrong in the first place by assuming that OD is simply for saving fuel at high speeds? 2. Does my car have OD on automatically? 3. Why the fuck does it do that? 4. Is that bad for fuel economy or my engine 5. Does OD make my revs higher or lower when its on when you is goin over 80km/hr, just so I know... (sorry about the metric system you yall americans who still urse the silly miles system...) And just generalise it so that a girl with no car knowlage can understand and yeh... plz help me out dudes!!! Sorry it was so long... its been stressing me for days!!! -Amz, 19, female, adelaide australia!

A: 1. yes, you should have left it alone. The OD is to reduce wear and tear on the engine and also to increase the gas mileage. 2. The OD should be enabled automatically. You have an automatic transmission and the transmission will decide when you need OD and when you need a lower gear. So really, don't worry about it. It is being taken care of. 3. Because some times when you are going up and down hills, or towing a heavy load, the transmission will 'hunt'. It will shift up and down trying to find the right gear, When that happens, you can push the button to turn the OD off, until you reach the top of the hill, and then turn it back on again. 4. Yes, having the OD off will decrease your gas mileage. 5. Having the OD off will increase the RPM's of the engine and will make the engine run faster especially when you are traveling at higher speeds. It is best to ignore the button and always leave the OD enabled. You will want to save wear and tear on the engine and save gas too. The OD is also better for the environment, since less gas and fumes are emitted.

A: It could be a traction warning. On my BMW an ! with a triangle around it means there is little traction, or there is a problem with my tires.

Q: Can I return a car to the dealership and get my full money back?
I bought a brand new (2008) Kia Rio from a dealership just a few hours ago, but I don't want it (long story). It has a warranty and everything. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it; I just don't like it. Can I "return" it to the dealership without losing money? I decided on a financing payment plan. Thanks! today the guy from the dealership called and said we forgot to pay the down payment.... does that help me any??/ If I haven't paid anything, and if i drive the car to the dealership and tell them i refuse to take it, will they take it back?

A: You most likely can't return it. Most state, contrary to popular myth, do *NOT* have a buyer's remorse law. Once you sign that contract, unless there's a clause allowing you some time period to get out of it, there's no way to get out of it. That's why it's important to test drive a car and make doubly sure you love it before you buy it.
